The DAHS museum at 55 W. Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ is open on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00pm during our monthly meetings (July 17th, August 21st, September 18th, October 16th, and November 20th). We are also open by appointment and selected weekends. Check out our Facebook page for updates. Join us to see our extensive collection of artifacts and photos related to the Dover Area’s rich history.
We are also seeking volunteers to help us open our doors more often. We have developed a series of floor plans pointing out the major items/themes on each of our three floors. We offer informative self-guided tours to supplement guided tours.
It takes a lot of volunteers to open the museum for more hours, maintain the museum, and conduct archival work. We welcome all to help in the effort in preserving Dover’s history. As you learn more about us you may consider volunteering to help with a particular project, give a tour, or give a periodic helping hand.
The Town of Dover has many exciting festivals in the downtown area coming up this summer and we plan to fully participate in those events by keeping our museum open and staffing booths or tables as needed. Again watch our Facebook page for more info about those events. Many local social media sites also share our information, which we greatly appreciate.
If you are having a special event, class reunion, etc. and are looking for something to do for a an hour or two reach out to us and we will be happy to open the Museum up for your event. Please call 973-361-3525 and leave a message – one of our volunteers will get back to you to plan your visit.
